Beautiful! Make sure to enter the Hundertwasser Art display behind the Hundertwasser Toilets (kids free, adults 5 $ Koha)- well worth the visit. Multilayered concrete in different pastel tones- who would have suspected even concrete will submit to Frederick Hundertwasser's touch? Make sure to check out the Hundertwasser Art Center in Whangarei to delve deeper in this artist, early ecologist, sailor, thinker way ahead of his time.

Open and absolutely worth the stop. This is the only Hundertwasser building of the southern hemisphere AFAIK. And you'll most probably pass on your way to bay of Islands.
