Did a day walk up to bald knob lookout, took about 4-5 hours of actual walking, but the views are amazing so we spent basically the whole day. Lovely walk and really worth doing if you don't fancy the whole great walk, this bit is the highlight of the great walk anyway (or so we've been told).

We did one day track, about 18 kilometres. It was very, very nice, lots of beautiful views and mysterious, kind of Lord of the rings forest. It was really steep though, me and my husband agreed later that the track was more difficult than Tongariro Crossing. So I recommend only to fit people.

Very nice track. I would recommend you doing it in 3 days if you are not bad trampers otherwise days might be really short.
