Brewster Track, Mount Aspiring National Park, South Island.
Description
This is a serviced-alpine 12 bunk hut in the South Westland area.
Bookings are required in summer (December - April). Outside this period bookings are not required; bunks are available on a first come first served basis.
The track starts from Fantail Falls, crosses the Haast River, and climbs steadily through beech forest to the bushline. From here the track continues up a snow grass face and on to the predominant ridge leading up towards Mt Armstrong.
The 12-bunk Brewster Hut (no heating) is next to a small tarn, just off the ridge to the right.
Pay when you make a booking Backcountry Hut Tickets can't be used to pay for use of this hut, but a Backcountry Hut Pass can. If you want to use a Backcountry Hut Pass as payment during the booking period (DecemberApril), make a booking at the DOC office listed under Contacts below.
