Description
This is a standard six-bunk hut located in Takitimu Conservation Area in the Southland area. Bookings not required - first come, first served.
Facilities include mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use).
The hut provides good views over the Te Anau basin and Fiordland, and gives access to climbs in the Excelsior Peak area.
Access to the Cheviot Downs Hut is by 4WD track through Cheviot Downs Station and permission is required, phone +64 3 249 8816.
