Dark Sky Project (Ngai Tahu Tourism)
Description
At Dark Sky Project, we connect manuhiri (visitors) to our night skies, igniting a lifelong passion for dark sky preservation and what lies above. We're proud to be regarded as leaders in astro-tourism and stargazing experiences.
Dark Sky Project is located in Tekapo, in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. It may be one of the quietest spots on the planet, yet it has one of the busiest skies in the universe. It is one of the most accessible Dark Sky Reserves in the world, and the first gold-tier Reserve.
Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll love it here. The skies are clear, making the stars look incredible. And when you join us, you join part of the story. A story of loving and protecting the night sky.
We offer two outdoor stargazing experiences and two indoor (all-weather) multimedia experiences, ensuring we have a tour to suit everyone's preferences, whether you're stopping in Tekapo for the night or just passing through during the day.
