However, Council-owned campgrounds and overnight parking areas will remain closed. People travelling in self-contained and non-self-contained vehicles should seek alternative accommodation. ------ Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
